Android TV v Android box
Looking to get an android TV to stream games, I presume it will work just as well as an android tv box, is my presumption correct?

I never find anything that works in Kodi, are sports streams reliant on a vpn to work in the UK?

mallard - the only problem you would have is that some older Android TVs don't easily download apps (Kodi) from the Play Store - so in Settings you have to turn on “Unknown Sources” to allow for installation of apps outside of the Play Store.

If that's your definition of "jailbreak" then so be it!

Whatever you get, make sure that it has an Ethernet port so you don't have to rely on wifi which is the main cause of buffering.

Have an Nvidea Shield. It is immense and can be controlled with your normal TV remote.

Add Kodi and bask in your own glory.

I WOULD IMAGINE you'd have to 'jailbreak' the TV somehow

You dont need to jailbreak the tv. Newer Sony, Phillips and Sharp (i think thats teh 3 manufacturers) are starting to build their Smart TVs based on the ANdroid OS and you can install Kodi direct

That looks a bit pricey, just want it for the football since they've taken it off TV here.

Was just going to download kodi to a smart TV

Nvidia Shield is definitely the critics fave. It does cost twice as much as other boxes which are perfectly adequate though.

Nvidia Shield is what you need.

Re: Android TV v Android box
Why would you need to jailbreak it? Either you can install Kodi direct from the Google play store or do it by USB. Probably easier than setting it up on Amazon's TV box for instance, and that works fine.

Probably other reasons to choose the box route though, like what download speeds the TV gets, and how much more expensive it is than a normal TV set.
